Places
Please note: Whilst each place has been claimed by a particular faction,
all these locations are open to the general public.
Casino Neptune (Giovanni)
This huge casino has been modeled completely in the spirit of the Las
Vegas giants. Decorated with an extravagant (and exceedingly tacky)
under-the-sea theme, this place is the vision of over-the-top gold-plated
cheesiness. The Casino is located on the edge of the Docklands district,
has an attached hotel and promotes itself as being a family venue, a
place where mum and dad can gamble whilst the kids watch the magic shows,
bands and other entertainment. Underneath the glossy exterior, is a
somewhat shadier secret. The casino is rumored to have connections with
the Mafia. However, the owner, Mr Lucio Giovanni, denies these charges
adamantly.
Casino Neptune serves as the base of operations for the Giovanni Family
and its associates in the city of London.
Pieces of Eight (Setites)
This casino sits amongst all the theatres, clubs and restaurants on
Shaftesbury Avenue. It markets itself as being somewhat more upper class
than its Docklands competitor. The interior decorations are mild and
tastefully fitted, and the clientale are older and more mild-mannered.
This place is for serious gamblers. Membership is required, and is subject
to extensive customer credit and status checks. Ownership is said to
lie with an Egyptian cartel, however the only indication of this is
a rather ornate snake god statue in the foyer.
Pieces of Eight is the secret home of the Followers of Set within London.
The Al-Jazeira Community Centre (Assamite)
A rather non-descript building tucked down a side-street in Westminster,
this place functions as a meeting hall, bar, sports centre, prayer centre
and function suite for Moslems of all backgrounds. The building is usually
thriving with activity at all times of day and night, however all patrons
will hush up at the mention of the attic room. Supposedly a tiny cult
of Hashshasin descendents make their base up there. Of course, many
mock this rumour, but none have dared to find out the truth.
A small group of Assamites have their base of operations here.
Brixton Town Working Mens Club (Ravnos)
This "classy" establishment has been in the same location in Brixton
town for decades. However, it has changed greatly in that time. What
used to be a smoky dump of drunken blue collar workers is now a family-friendly
bar and restaurant. However, recently it seems to have become a meeting
place for a local group of gypsies and travelers. Whilst these new regulars
can sometimes get rowdy, they do seem to pay their bar tabs, so the
management have not yet felt inclined to move them on.
The Ravnos like to meet here.
Whale Song Cocktail Bar (Peacekeepers)
This trendy cocktail bar opened a couple of years ago, it's shtick being
that half the profits go to the Save the Whales cause and the music
played inside the bar is professionally DJ-mixed whale song sounds.
As such, this location has been picked by the local anarch group calling
themselves 'Peacekeepers' as a base of operations. Members of the group
meet here most nights, making quite a lot of noise. The management have
recently started offering them the function room, just to keep them
out of the way of the regular cleintale.
The Peacekeeper anarchs have claimed the Whale Song as their base.
Highgate Cemetery
Famously one of the most haunted places in Britain, this centuries old
cemetery is still is use today. Many have reported hearing voices, seeing
strange things - movements, shadows and other oddities. One thing is
known to many supernatural beings. If you want to find ghosts, this
is a good place to go...
Giovanni setting information
The Giovanni Clan were the first to arrive on the scene when the gambling
laws were changed, promptly setting up a Vegas-style monstrosity named
Casino Neptune in the Docklands area. Here the Clan carry out most of
their business, incorporating he majority of legal, illegal and occult
undertakings.
People:
Don Lucio Giovanni
Lucio Giovanni is the head of the Giovanni Clan in this area. He has been
here in London for several decades now and knows the place inside and
out. He looks to be in his middle ages, and is of a somewhat large and
overweight build. He still has all his hair though and is always seen
looking immaculate in a black suit and tie. The Don manages many things,
but he is primarily concerned with the Family's business interests. And
the Giovanni have many business interests. Not all of them legal. Many
rumours circulate about the Don. However, one that always seems to circulate
is that if Lucio Giovanni actually smiles at you... Say your prayers and
prepare for the afterlife.
Dr Marlissa Giovanni
Marlissa is the Don's sister, and has been in the city for as long as
he has. She is a tall thin stern-looking woman in her middle-ages with
dark hair tied into a severe bun. Whilst her brother controls all the
Family's mortal interests in the area, Marlissa controls the immortal.
A necromancer of great repute, she is rumoured to have ghostly minions
crawling all over the place... serving her, guarding her and spying for
her. Many more junior Family members have reported strange sounds coming
for her lab at all hours of the night. None have actually dared to go
and see what she is doing in there.
Carlo and Carlotta Giovanni (The Twins)
The Don's enforcers. These two are always seen together and a frequently
called in by the Don when he has a 'special' task. They can be quite unnerving
to those unfamiliar with them. They have a habit of taking turns to talk,
continuing any conversation as if they were a single mind.
Nivvy Smith
The Local Man, and a ghoul. East End born and bred, he controls a lot
of the local gangs as well as various organised crime enterprises. If
someone needs a beating up, Nivvy's the man.
Jocelyn
An elderly ghost, who has been bound through necromancy to the clan for
decades. Jocelyn appears to be a beautiful young dark skinned woman in
her late 20's. Although she has served the clan faithfully during the
years, she is still effectively a prisoner of Marlissa.
Felicia Giovanni
After betraying the clan to the mortal authorities, Felicia was recently
captured and executed by the Don. However, as a necromancer of great repute,
Felicia had managed to ritually ensure herself a wraithly existence and
has since fled into the Shadowlands of London. Capture of this rogue Giovanni,
even while deceased is listed as a priority for the Clan internationally
and very much so for the London Family
Setite setting information
The Setites have historically never maintained more than a small and token
presence in London. There was never really anything in the city to interest
them. Until the gambling laws changed. Keen to cash in on the potential
huge profits, and also to perhaps dig into the Giovanni power base a little,
they opened their own casino on Shaftesbury Avenue, named Pieces of Eight.
Their main concerns at present involve cashing in on the gambling, eliminating
the Giovanni, seizing control of the drug business and corrupting the
minds of London's youth.
People
High Priestess Shanara
The undisputed leader of the local Setites, she is an elder who has been
part of the ancient Egyptian sect for hundreds of years. Dark-skinned,
beautiful and mysterious she rarely leaves the sanctum of her temple (hidden
beneath the casino). Her concerns are mainly with the occult. She carries
out regular rituals and worship to her Egyptian gods, to which all clan
members are usually invited. She is also alleged to have more skill at
necromancy and controlling the dead than many Giovanni. Her contingent
of ghost slaves is always at hand. She is often accompanied by Shassar,
a huge and ancient ghouled anaconda.
Ahmed Bal`Dazar
The High Priestess is very focuses on the more spiritual nature of things
When it comes to the more practical night-to-night running of things,
her second-in-command, Ahmed Bal'Dazar is very much in control. He has
the nominal title of 'Head of Casino Ops'. But as well as overseeing the
running of the casino, he also leads the clan's more illegal activities
including the drugs and organised crime. Ahmed is a tall, heavy built
African gentleman with a shaved head and traditional-style robes. He rarely
smiles. When he does, someone is about to die.
The Red Adder
This person is never seen without some kind of mask. An enforcer for the
clan, he works directly for Ahmed, and by association, Shanara. He never
speaks. Rumour has it that his tongue was ripped out for some unknown
crime long before his Embrace. All that is known is that he carries out
his tasks with ruthless efficiency. No one knows his name, what he looks
like, or what his background is. But for those who somehow offend the
Clan, he is usually the last thing seen.
Mikey and Chris Hargreaves - Setite brothers and gang leaders
These two brothers have always fought with each since childhood. However
Chris usually won. Being the oldest, he often had the upper hand. When
they grew up, their battles did not cease, and both went into opposing
gang and drug businesses. Mikey attracted the attention of a Setite and
was Embraced into the Clan. Sensing the opportunity to finally get the
advantage in a long running war, he then Embraced his older brother.
Despite (or perhaps because of) their endless competitiveness, the Setites
have been pleased with the result. A large chunk of the London drug business
is now under the control of the brothers, and at lower levels exhibits
a productive rivalry that just gives results. Nonetheless, many hope not
to meet the brothers at the same time. It's just too hard to get a word
in edgewise.
Shassar
This huge and ancient ghouled anaconda is the long-time pet of High Priestess
Shanara. It's preferred hunting ground is in the sewers, where it can
feed on animals, as well as sewer workers, homeless people, and anyone
else unfortunate enough to be down there. Rumour of the creature has spread
to the mortal population who have named it the new "Beast of London".
